Ski Country Sports opened in Asheville in 1990, in a small shopping center on Merrimon Avenue. The
first several years Ski Country specialized in ski equipment, clothing and inline skates, later adding snowboard
equipment. Ski Country carries all of the top brands in winter sports including Nordica, Rossignol, Burton, K2,
North Face, Spyder, Head and Obermeyer. Ski Country quickly became the place to find all of your winter gear and clothing.
Craig Friedrich, managing partner and Asheville native, has been skiing and snowboarding most of his life and has
been there since the beginning. He has transformed Ski Country Sports from a small 2400 sq ft store to today’s 8,000 sq ft
winter sports and bike shop.
Ski Country not only specializes in winter sports gear but also has a full line of bicycles including road, mountain,
BMX, and youth bikes. Ski Country is one of the leading bike shops in Western North Carolina. Ski Country is the largest Giant, Kona and Litespeed dealer in the area. We have one of the largest service centers in the area with Tony Moll heading the service department. Tony is a biking enthusiast, well known and respected throughout the local biking community.
