Scott's Explorair 3L Men's Ski Jacket is pretty minimal, but that doesn't mean it isn't fully equipped. If it's built-in GPS units and avalanche reflectors that you want, look elsewhere, but if you want a lightweight, rugged, and waterproof shell that does as well out of bounds as it does in, the Exlorair's got your back. It's made of bombproof polyester fabric and features Scott's proprietary waterproof and breathable Toraydelfy three-layer laminate, which'll keep rain, sleet, and snow from penetrating into your layers without causing you to feel sticky and clammy. Each seam has been fully taped for improved waterproofing, and the powder skirt seals up tightly around your waist so stop the mornings' champagne pow from sneaking up your jacket and down into your pants. If you are looking to cool down a smidgen, the Explorair's underarm vents are easy to unzip for a shot of cool air. Scott designed the easily adjustable hood to be fully helmet compatible, and engineered the shoulders to be seam-free so you can carry a pack without irritation. Even the pockets are laser-cut for precision and durability, and they're placed so that they'll be easily accessible when you're wearing a pack on your way up to a big line or a dawn-patrol descent.
